Test sticks for the semi-quantitative determination of tin(II)-ions in solutions. Tetravalent tin has to be reduced. To do this, add 0.5 ml hydrochloric acid 37 % and some magnesium turnings to 5 ml of the test solution and heat to boiling temperature. Hexacyano-ferrates interfere > 10 mg/l (yellow-brown colour) and must be decomposed by evaporation with sulphuric acid 96 %.
