This test paper shows silver ions (Ag + ) as red-violet spots on a salmon-red background. Interferences caused by mercury and copper ions (Hg 2+ , Cu 2+ ) are readily circumvented. Gold, platinum and palladium produce color reaction similar to that of silver, but can be masked.
